If also using a transponder, a “Follow In-Cab Transponder” alert displays on the PrePass app. PrePass app: A “Pull-In” or “Bypass” decision displays to the driver. A green light indicates a bypass and a red light indicates that the driver must pull into the weigh station. Transponder: The driver receives a screening result visually and audibly. Based on a truck’s clearance status, the PrePass system will send a signal to the transponder and/or the PrePass app. In some states the system also checks the truck’s weight to ensure that it is compliant with the jurisdiction’s regulations. The PrePass system electronically checks the carrier’s safety and vehicle’s credential (e.g. A cellular connection is established between the in-cab device and the weigh station. PrePass app: The PrePass app alerts the driver that a weigh station is approaching and to merge into the right lane. An RFID communication between the in-cab transponder and the reader identifies the truck. Transponder: Roadway signs alert the driver when approaching the PrePass site.
